Museum of Modern Art Olomouc: Salon, Cabinet
The phenomenon of art brut began to be discovered in Poland in recent decades thanks to avid gallerists, collectors (e.g. Leszek Macak), as well as psychiatric and university departments in Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań or Płock. Its raw artistic statement is distinctly different from Polish naive or folk art. The artists were and still are discovered "on the margins of society", most of them as solitaries, mainly in special medical or social institutions. There are dozens of these artists and they are entering the European art brut consciousness. Maria Wnęks paintings, Edmund Mojsels drawings, works underpinned by religious motifs characteristic of the Polish environment are highly valued. Also frequent are creations with an erotic accent, which can be found, for example, in the work of Adam Debiński or Justyna Matysiak. Polish art but also includes names such as Cycoń, Rosloń, Glowala and many others. The exhibition of this circle, including a selection of about thirty artists, will be presented in the Czech environment for the first time and will be based on many years of activity within the art brut collection, but also on the basis of the Central European Forum Olomouc.
