Václav Špála is rightly regard as a classic of Czech painting, which is one of the few in domestic conditions developed and enriched program of Fauvism. Refined coloristic sense Špála began to cultivate it during his study stay in Dubrovnik. His first paintings were created in the spirit of Fauvism, but which complement the expressive undertone. Knowledge of Cubism, Orphism he displayed in vibrant color work and laying the rhythmic colors. His work was dominated by bold colors, significant was his composition green, blue, red and white. In the case of painting Landscape near Červená nad Vltavou goal was to create a peaceful, uncomplicated landscape composition of simple forms, which give artists the opportunity to play out his intuitive sense of color and space.
