Karl Maria Schwerdtner (1874 Vienna – 1916 Vienna)
A medal for the Exhibition of Most Recent Inventions, 1907
lead; 73g diameter 51 mm, Olomouc Museum of Art, inv. no. M 182
The medal by a Viennese medal maker commemorates the exhibition organized by the Trade Association in Olomouc. On the front is an en face bust of the Archduke Joseph Ferdinand, who was the sponsor of the event. On the reverse is the coat of arms of the city of Olomouc in a heart-shaped shield set in a scrolling cartouche, which at that time was a checked eagle with the Austrian emblem on the chest. The legend commemorates the event for which the mintage was produced: AUSSTELLUNG DER NEUESTEN ERFINDUNGEN 1907 – OLMÜTZER GEWERBEVEREIN.
