MARTIN PAVLICEK: FACTORIES FOR ART / THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF A SCULPTOR IN THE BAROQUE

LECTURE FOR THE EXHIBITION VOLUME OF THE SOUL

Baroque sculptors were renowned for the bravura and speed with which they were able to create their often monumental works or large-scale commissions. This resulted in a refinement of the creative process compared to the previous, Renaissance period, as well as new demands from their clients who valued speed of execution (the fa presto phenomenon). In addition, however, many prestigious commissions were carefully thought out and careful attention was paid to the various stages of the creation of the work. All this will be the subject of a lecture on the project Algorithm of a Sculpture, which is part of the exhibition Volume of the Soul, the sculpture collection of the Olomouc Museum of Art.
